U.S. Army Base at Fort Bragg, NC

Fort Bragg is perhaps best known as the headquarters for the Army’s Special Operations Command and home to the XVIII Airborne Corps. The base is one of the largest U.S. military installations globally, with more than 57,000 active-duty Army service members and spanning 251 square miles just west of Fayetteville in the Sandhills region of southeastern North Carolina. The base also hosts more than 20 major military units.

Fort Bragg’s major units also include the 82d Airborne Division, United States Forces Command and Army Reserve Command, and 1st Special Forces Command – which includes 3d Special Forces Group and 1st Special Warfare Training Group.

Fort Bragg has a proud culture and rich history dating back to its beginnings in 1918 as Camp Bragg. Soldiers from Fort Bragg have participated in every war since World War I. ‘All American’ paratroopers from the 82d are most famous for jumping behind enemy lines during World War II, and the Division has been America’s vanguard in every crisis since.

Fort Bragg’s mission is to equip, train, rapidly deploy, and sustain full spectrum forces supporting combatant commanders from a community of excellence where Soldiers, families, and civilians thrive.

Courts-Martial and Investigations at Fort Bragg

Due in part to the base’s large geographic size and population, Fort Bragg sees a very high number of investigations and courts-martial each year.  In fact, as of mid-April 2021, Fort Bragg has 16 courts-martial pending, and it’s estimated that there are 2-3 times more active investigations on the base at any given time.  The experienced military defense attorneys at Capovilla & Williams are regularly hired to defend service members of all ranks at Fort Bragg in cases ranging from sexual assault and harassment to drug charges – including positive urinalysis, sale, and possession – to failure to obey orders, disorderly conduct, and AWOL.

Protecting Your Record of Service at Brag

Fort Bragg is considered one of the Army’s most prestigious military posts. Several special operations and airborne units are also stationed at the base, including the 82nd Airborne Division, the 3rd Special Forces Group, and Delta Force.  These are prestigious divisions of the Army and can help propel both officers and enlisted Soldiers to exceptional career opportunities and retirement.

However, a criminal arrest, charge, or conviction can have a serious negative impact on a service member’s life, making it very important to have the best military defense attorney in your corner… at all phases of the legal process.
